Author Prof Ken Walibora is dead.
Ken Walibora, who was a legendary Kenyan author and a journalist is dead.
The 56-year-old was involved in a road accident on Friday on Landhies road, Nairobi.
The prof had been missing since Friday.
His body was found at the Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary after a long search from his family.
The Nairobi area police commander, Philip Ndolo stated that the Double M matatu driver who was speeding and caused the accident made a statement with the police on Friday after the accident.
“He was chased, arrested and made to record a statement for careless driving.”
The driver was later released on a bail of sh 10,000.
While that was happening prof Walobora was rushed to the hospital, but he died due to the injuries.
The driver is now being searched by authorities as police move to press new charges following the death of the renowned scholar Prof. Walibora.
The well-known author has written approximately 40 books. Siku Njema and Kidaga Kimemwozea are some of his most famous books which were used as set books in Kenyan secondary schools. Ndoto ya Amerika is also another great book by prof. Walibora.
He worked at NTV as a Kiswahili newsreader. He also worked as an assistant professor in African Languages at the University of Wisconsin.
Prof Walibora was also an activist for the use of Swahili as the mass language.
