For the last 24 hours, 9 new cases of covid-19 have been confirmed. The total number of individuals who have tested positive is now at 234. Out of these, 53 have recovered. 11 patients in the country have died out of the virus.
As announced by the president today, 10, 000 persons have so far been tested, and there plans from the ministry of health to scale up the number of tests this week.
The president also confirmed that the measures that were put in place in the country are effective and have helped in slowing down the spread of the virus. He applauded various universities and manufacturing industries that have hugely helped in the fight against covid-19.
The president also said that Ksh 8.5 billion will be used to take care of the elderly, while 500 million will be disbursed to help the disabled during this tough time of Covid-19.
In his announcement, President Kenyatta also reported that the government is looking for economic recovery strategies after the COVID-19 through loans and grants to affected companies.
So far, the world has 2, 101, 668+ cases of covid-19 and 136, 196+ cases of deaths. The US has 644,188+ confirmed cases, 52,629 recoveries, and 28, 579 number of deaths, which is higher than in any nation.
