Naivas has taken up the business space at Hazina Towers, formerly occupied by Nakumatt Lifestyle. Hazina Towers is one of the malls along Monrovia Street in the Nairobi city center. The mall housed the famous Nakumatt lifestyle; hence It’s popularly referred to as Lifestyle.
The retailer will begin its operations at the new space on Tuesday. The outlet will be targeting the Nairobi CBD population. Notably, the retailer already has three other outlets within the city center, including the Ronald Ngala branch, the Development house branch, and the Moi avenue.
The new Naivas branch will be the 67th. As Naivas takes up most of the spaces occupied by Nakumatt, it’s evident that it’s the top beneficiary during a season when the retail sector is struggling with cash flow challenges. The closure of its rival, Tuskys several branches, indicates that through Naivas’ strategic positioning, it will become the country’s leading retailer.
Notably, before the end of 2020, the retailer plans to open two more branches – one food market in Rongai town and a supermarket outlet at Ananas Mall, Thika. This will bring the retailer’s outlets to 70.
Willy Kimani, the Chief commercial officer, pointed out that the retailer has persistently defied the harsh economic environment and the covid 19 pandemic disruptions to continue implementing its growth and expansion goals.
