As announced by Dr Mwangagi, out of 600 samples tested in the last 24 hours, there are eight new positive confirmed cases of Covid-19. The number of confirmed cases in the country is now 216. Out of the 8 cases, 5 are Kenyans, and 3 are foreigners. Six of the eight patients were from Nairobi, one from Siaya and one from Nakuru. There was one recovery case recorded, bringing the total number of recoveries to 41. Also, there were zero cases of death filed today. However, 612 contact cases are still in the follow-up class.
The ministry of health has called out the county government to work hand in hand with the national government to curb the spread of the virus. As announced, there is a need to prepare for the worse as Covid-19 is now creeping in counties. Nairobi County has the highest number of patients infected by the virus standing up at 107.
12,000 testing kits are to be deployed in the first phase of testing in all cluster areas-Kibera, Mandera and Siaya. Also, Dr Mwangagi mentioned the need to mobilize people to stay away from isolated centres like hotels and restaurants.
According to John Hopkins University, the number of corona-virus pandemic has toll up to 1, 942,360 with 465,703 recovery cases globally. Since the spread of the virus, a total of 121,726 deaths have been recorded.
