At times the unavoidable happens. You break your NHIF contribution. Your account becomes deactivated. These are normal things that shouldn’t worry you as there are fixes to such issues.
This article will guide you on two ways to activate your NHIF account if deactivated.
- Pay the principal amount (Sh1500) and wait for sixty days. After this, you can resume enjoying services offered by NHIF.
- Pay the arrears and the penalties. This is a short cut as the account will be activated immediately.
Updating NHIF payment can be done in three ways. One, use the online NHIF self-service portal. This is the best way to make payments as there are leads to follow until the cash is received, and a report is sent to you once the payment is complete.
Two, use a standing bank order. Here, funds will be channeled from your bank account directly to the NHIF account every month.
Three, use mobile transfer services such as Airtel Money, M-Pesa, or Equitel. Here, you need first to load money to your mobile account then transfer to NHIF through their pay bill no.
For Mpesa, use 200222, while for Airtel Money, use 823263 as the NHIF pay bill number and your ID number as the account number.
